Dr. Shilpi Kapur is a sustainability consulting professional with 18 years of experience advising governments, multilateral institutions, financial institutions and corporates on the design and implementation of integrated sustainability strategies. Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis, she combines rigorous analytical grounding with over a decade of applied, consulting-grade practice at the intersection of circular economy, environmental policy and regulation, ESG and disclosure advisory, and sustainable finance. She currently serves as Senior Director at the Environmental Management Centre Pvt. Ltd. (EMC), Mumbai, where she leads ESG strategy, training and capacity building, sustainability reporting and disclosures for corporate clients, circular economy roadmapping and action plans for government, and sustainable finance mandates for public and private sector clients including financing institutions.

Her advisory portfolio spans national governments (Government of India, NITI Aayog, MoEFCC), regional and multilateral institutions (SACEP, World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union, UNEP, UNIDO, GIZ), and private sector clients including commercial banks and industrial enterprises across India, Bhutan, Nepal, Thailand, Bangladesh, Egypt and Europe. She has led the design of circular economy policies and action plans, extended producer responsibility (EPR) frameworks and regional EPR/plastic-credit capacity building, sustainable finance frameworks and scoping studies aligned with ICMA principles, ESG and environmental-social due diligence audits, and industrial sector readiness assessments for compliance with international sustainability regulations such as CBAM, ESPR, EUDR, CSRD, CSDDD, PPWR, DPP and REACH/PFAS. Dr. Kapur is equally recognised for her ability to translate complex sustainability and regulatory concepts into actionable capacity-building programmes, having most recently led a regional training on EPR and plastic credits for over 50 participants from six South Asian countries (SACEP, Kathmandu, June 2026).
